Equality and Human Rights Policy

Policy Statement

Kathleen Halligan Consulting (“the Organisation”) is committed to promoting equality, respecting diversity, and upholding the human rights of all individuals. We recognise our responsibility to ensure that no individual or group is treated less favourably because of their characteristics or identity.

This policy applies to all staff, contractors, and service users involved in our programmes.

Responsibility for Implementation

Overall responsibility for implementing this policy lies with the Managing Director.
All staff share responsibility for ensuring equality and human rights are respected in their daily work.

Staff Training

The Organisation will provide training to all staff and associates on equality and human rights. Training will enable staff to:

  • Understand their responsibilities under this policy.
  • Identify and address barriers to equality.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and respect.

Equality and Human Rights Assessment

We will assess the equality and human rights issues relevant to our fields of work. This will be done in line with the guidance issued by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC).

These assessments will:

  • Identify potential risks of discrimination or unequal treatment.
  • Highlight opportunities to promote nclusion and protect rights.
  • Inform planning and decision-making.

Planning and Response Systems

We will maintain planning systems to ensure appropriate and timely responses to identified equality and human rights issues. This includes:

  • Embedding equality and rights considerations into programme design and delivery.
  • Monitoring outcomes to ensure fairness and accessibility.
  • Taking corrective action where issues arise.

Equality and Human Rights Impact Assessment (EHRIA)

We will undertake Equality and Human Rights Impact Assessments (EHRIA) for relevant programmes and services. This process will ensure that we:

  • Deliver programmes in a way that individuals or groups are not treated less favourably due to their characteristics or identity.
  • Guarantee equal opportunity for every individual to access, avail of, and benefit from our programmes.
  • Identify and take steps to protect the human rights of all participants.

Review

This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if required, to ensure it remains effective and aligned with IHREC guidance.
